Similarly to the other types of the swing check valve, the DIN swing check valve generally consists of a flap or disc of the same diameter as the pipe bore, which hangs down in the flow path.  And the DIN swing check valve refers to the swing check valve designed and manufactured under the regulations of the DIN standard.

Generally speaking, the DIN swing check valve has been widely used in various industries such as petroleum, water, steam industry etc under nominal pressure. It is quite suitable for the working conditions with PN1.6~PN4.0Mpa and -20~450 degrees. For these situations, the DIN swing check valve affects well at guiding the forward flow and preventing the reverse flow. When the flow is in the forwards direction, the pressure of the fluid forces the disc to hinge upwards, allowing flow through the valve. And the reverse flow will cause the disc to shut against the seat and stop the fluid going back down the pipe. Moreover, the weight of the flap would help a lot at the reverse flow preventing. As a result, DIN swing check valve holds great popularity resulting from its ability to produce relatively high resistance to flow in the open position by taking advantage of the weight of the disc.
