API 6D ball valve

API 6D ball valve is a ball valve which is certificated with API 6D. API Specification 6D is an adoption of ISO 14313: 1999, Petroleum and Natural Gas Industries-Pipeline Transportation Systems-Pipeline Valves. This International Standard specifies requirements and gives recommendations for the design, manufacturing, testing and documentation of ball, check, gate and plug valves for application in pipeline systems. API 6D ball valve is suitable for use on various kinds of pipelines of Class 150~2500, PN10~PN420, and JIS10K~JIS20K to cut off or turn on the pipeline medium such as oil or gas. The operation types for API 6D ball valve include worm gear, manual, pneumatic or electric actuators. It is in general of flange connection, and butt welding ends connection as well. The sizes of API 6D ball valve range from 2 to 12 inches. API 6D ball valve consists of carbon steel body, electro-less nickel plated carbon steel stem, ball and seats, stainless steel seat springs, nylon seat inserts and Buna N seals and so on. Board range of trims include: stainless steel trim (stem, ball, seats, fittings) and PTFE seat inserts. API 6D ball valve is available with full and regular port bores.

The API 6D ball valve is a kind of ball valves. So it has the similar working principle with the ball valve. The API 6D ball valve is opened by turning handles attached to balls inside the valves. The ball has a hole or port through the middle. When the port is in line with both ends of the valve, flow will occur. When the valve is closed, the hole is perpendicular to the ends of the valve, and flow is blocked. An API 6D ball valve is durable and usually works to achieve perfect shutoff even after years of disuse. It is often therefore an excellent choice for shutoff applications, and is always preferred to globe valves and gate valves for this purpose.
